Sawadiika!

My first week of school has gone great. It's been a relaxed week of orientations, games, and adventures. Yesterday the whole team went into the heart of Chiang Mai and we had an "Amazing Race." It was a four hour scavenger hunt all around the city. We were sweaty and exhausted by the end of it all but it was great to be able to see the city since my actual base is in Mae Taeng which is 45 minutes north of Chiang Mai. I am excited to start lecture next week and get on a more steady schedule.

The people in my DTS are all wonderful. There are 4 other western girls here along with 3 western boys. There are 7 Thai girls and 2 Thai guys. We all get along great despite the language barriers. Many of the Thais can speak some English and all the others are determined to learn. All of us westerners are determined to learn as much Thai as possible while we are here. So there is a mutual exchange of teaching languages among our base. This has really brought everyone on the base very close together, and the staff keeps telling us that they are encouraged to see how much we love each other already even though it's only been one week.

My apologies for not being able to update more often. Since I have to come to an internet cafe to get wifi, most of my time is spent talking on Skype. BUT! I am determined not to be one of those missionaries that stops blogging after a month, so I will try my hardest to remain faithful!

Also, please be praying for my health for my stomach has been bugging me lately.

Well I need to leave the cafe now but I will update again soon!

Blessings,
Hanna
